St Petersburg State University of Telecommunications welcomed high-ranking guests from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The delegation was headed by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.
Members of the ministerial delegation, Chairman of the Council of Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology Tu Minh Phuong and his colleagues – Heads of Departments and teachers were welcomed by the University management, Deans of faculties, representatives of departments of SPbSUT and partner companies.
The delegation's visit to SPbSUT took place with the support of the St Petersburg Committee on External Relations and the Committee on Informatization and Communications.
The Agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science between SPbSUT and Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) was signed in the presence of Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam.
The colleagues discussed the prospects for cooperation in the creation of a double degree program in the field of Information Security, training of national and international teams on Сybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence. The parties agreed to develop academic mobility of students and teachers.
Rector Ruslan Kirichek introduced the guests to the University's activities, new faculties, fields of study, and spoke about the development of project-based learning at SPbSUT and cooperation with companies in the telecommunications industry. “Students from Vietnam who study at SPbSUT have always been distinguished by their high academic success and hard work, and the Postgraduate students who studied under my scientific supervision were among the best,” he noted.
Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and International Cooperation Nina Zhuravleva highlighted that by the Decree of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam dated April 29, 2008, SPbSUT was awarded the Order of Friendship for its great contribution to the training of national personnel, specialists in the field of Communications and Post, for strengthening friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Russia.
"Such meetings are of great importance for the development of international cooperation and make a significant contribution to strengthening friendly and partnership ties between the peoples of our countries. We feel great joy and pride for the Vietnamese graduates of SPbSUT, who continue to develop communications and telecommunications in their home country and remain good friends of Russia!" added Nina Zhuravleva.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung noted the significance of the meeting. He identified Information Security as a priority area for cooperation development, because this area is rapidly developing, and Vietnam needs highly qualified personnel.
Minister also noted that there are plans to increase the number of Vietnamese students at SPbSUT and expressed his conviction that the development of high technologies occurs with government support, and therefore so much attention is paid to cooperation in the field of education and the digital industry at the international level.
The delegation visited laboratories: MEGANETLAB 6G, Educational and Research Laboratory of Interactive Visualization Systems, Laboratory of the Department of Photonics and Communication Lines and the Basic Department of High-speed Trunk Transport DWDM systems T-8, Laboratory of Convergent Communication Systems of the Department of Infocommunication Systems, Media Center and Museum of SPbSUT.
"When universities are ahead in research, this is a guarantee that states will also lead in research and science. When this research turns into practical results, into products that are in demand among the population, then such a state will develop. I believe that your University is precisely such a leader," Nguyen Manh Hung noted following the meeting.
“Today we are happy to visit SPbSUT and hope that our cooperation will only develop and lead to significant results,” added Chairman of the PTIT Council.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and Chairman of the Council of Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology Tu Minh Phuong left memorable entries in the Book of Honorary Guests of SPbSUT.
